First birthday's are occasions that are definitely meant to be celebrated.  While some prefer to go low-key and just do a simple shoot, others prefer to go all-out with a themed cake smash session.  My themed sessions can take place in my studio, or on location, and include decorations, and even the cake (for an additional charge).  A few weeks back I did a very special cake smash session for a repeat client.  I first met this little guy for a family session at Highland Park over the summer.  His mom asked if I would do a football themed cake smash session for him, and I was so excited.  His dad is a HUGE San Fran fan, so the red and gold were featured, along with turf, football decorations, and his dad's niners helmet.

His mom made him an adorable outfit for the shoot, as well as his cake.  All of the ingredients for a cake smash were there.  The big question in my mind was "will he actually smash the cake?"  His mom and dad assured me he would, and boy did he ever!  He demolished the cake.  It was hilarious to watch.  He literally picked the cake up and smashed it onto the turf, and then proceeded to smash it some more with his feet.  This little man does NOT mess around, and I loved it.

Following the cake smash part of his session, his mom and dad cleaned him up, put him in an adorable little suit, and we did a few more formal shots.

If you are thinking about a birthday session, I would be happy to work with you to make your vision come to life for a cake smash.  If you would rather go simple, with a cake and a simple backdrop, we can do that too.  Every family is different, and that's one thing that I think makes me stand out among other photographers in the area, I am flexible and the more diverse the shoot, the more excited I am about it.  I love to see the excitement on the faces of my clients when they walk through that door and see the setup I have created for their little one, and especially love to hear their reactions when they view their galleries and see the finished product.

Here are a couple shots from this session....
